SNÆFELLSNESS |

| The project Snæfellsness takes as a point of departure a particular moment of synchronicity. An evening, artist Molly O’Dwyer and myself were looking for one another. That night, instead of finding each other, we shot from different points of a bay, the same sunset over the Snæfell volcano. Only months later we realized the coincidence. The installation presents the two videos superimposed from two sides of a semi-transparent screen, creating chromatic distortions and cameras movements in which the two images seem to be looking for one another without ever meeting.

Le projet Snæfellsness prend pour point de départ un moment particulier de synchronicité où l’artiste Molly O’Dwyer et moi-même avons, indépendamment l’une de l’autre, capté une prise vidéo d’un coucher de soleil sur le volcan Snæfell à différent points d’une baie, un soir où l’on était à la recherche l’une de l’autre. Ce ne sont que des mois plus tard que nous avons réalisé la coïncidence. L’installation présente les deux vidéos superposées de par et d’autre d’un écran semi-transparent. La superposition crée des distorsions chromatiques et des mouvements de caméra où les deux images semblent à la recherche l’une de l’autre sans jamais se rejoindre.
